I bought NTN w/the plan to swing. I got in at $3.81 & before climbing to over $5 news came out it was not in compliance w/NYSE on a couple issues & the stock started tanking fast so I sold for a loss. It went down to $2+ Then days later it soared to $5. Should I have stuck to the plan to swing or as you say, cut losses quickly? I thought NTN was on its way to the grave.

I wish you would STFU and listen to your guests because your interruptions stop the flow of conversation; leaving the listener wondering what the guest was going to say prior to your interruptions. This guy has more information in his little finger then you’ll ever have in your lifetime, so please let us listen to folks like him uninterrupted. Should you have questions, wait until the guest is finished speaking.

I understand I might be a little late to this. I first learned about steady trade about a month ago and am trying to play catch up from the beginning while also getting all of the education out of each episode that I can. After listening to the contest I must say, I was highly disappointed in the attitudes of the early traders. Some of their comments made me feel like they didn’t completely understand what I felt was the whole purpose of the contest. That being said I would hope you adjust the judging of each trader from “Money Made” to how well there understanding the material and your assessment of how good of a trader they can be in the future. I hope you continue the competition for years to come and that one day I may be a part of it.

Thank you and have a great day!

Nate

For me, paper trading is going pretty well for the most part and I’ve grown my paper account substantially. But, every time I switch to real money trading, it’s a different story! I don’t know what exactly is going on here, but it’s soooo frustrating. It’s loss after loss after loss.

Paper trade = wins. Real money trading = losses. Is it because I’m so afraid to lose money that I just do? I don’t know. Any ideas and insights would be most appreciated!!

I was wondering how you can tell if all the shares of a recent offering have been bled into the float yet, or if they have not- how many more need to be until all are there. I have noticed companies using news catalysts to draw buyers, and then the dump in large chunks of shares from recent offerings. I’d like to stop getting caught in this trap. Any insight? Thanks so much!

Really do appreciate all of you discussing this topic today – very important. Also very timely for me.

I heard someone say the real measure of our trading skills was not how many wins we had, but how we manage our losses.

I have a small account and today I had over $200.00 loss with CSCO through an options trade. I didn’t sell into the surge before the earnings report, as I should have- I held through because I thought my chart looked strong. Mistake!
My chart looked good and Cisco even BEAT earnings – and STILL it dropped because of Covid-19 guidance. So today was not a happy day.

Many times I’ve though it would be great to have a group of traders to talk with.
Have you all thought about setting up groups of Tim Sykes & Tim Bohen traders getting together as “Trading Buddies” -or something like that?
That would be very helpful having other people to discuss trades with. They could meet/call together once or twice a week – something like that.
-Anyway – just an idea.

Thank you all for this great podcast- very much needed and appreciated!
Mark

But, I’ll leave a comment here(as opposed to iTunes). I like that you encourage people to speak to someone or a battle buddy in anything you do. In the current social media environment, the wrath of merciless “joking” of people can be a dangerous mental game. And it’s a lot different when you have to look in someone’s face and listen, give feedback or just hear them. I would not look for support from the online community unless it is someone that I had built a relationship with previous to the need to soundboard through a problem. For example, I think it was great for Jack and Dom to have each other to springboard themselves in the beginning.

I just cant understand how it is possible for me to make money in the market when I do not have much at all to spend. By much I mean very little. I currently own 52 shares of ACB and only 2 shares of CGC. I do have a few in INO, XOM,SAVE and GE but gosh I will be dead by the time I make anything. And ACB has me so second guessing my every move. So how will this help me without me just forking over more money. And I don’t understand all the candle stick charts and so forth. Thank you.

The one thing I can’t seem to figure out is how do you come up with the patterns and how to read them. I keep hearing about them but I haven’t seen how to actually come up with the pattern. I’m all in with learning Tim’s system, I have an etrade account with 5k and traded quit awhile ago but only traded large company’s and got discouraged because my account didn’t move much.

With penny stocks, you can potentially profit as stocks go up or down in value. While many of the companies offering penny stocks will fail, this can actually provide an opportunity for traders to sell short. Short selling is basically the opposite of the traditional stock investment. Instead of buying a stock and hoping that it will increase and value before you sell, you’re betting that the stock will depreciate in value. You can learn more about short selling on the SteadyTrade Podcast. […]

It’s because if you look at her face in just about every scene, it is not a look of happiness, but hidden terror. She acts and has the submissive look of a verbally abused or battered wife, or potential kidnapping victim (at least what they look like in movies/tv). That’s why she has the long dead eye stare in the Ryan Reynolds commercial, she was having a flashback to her captivity/abusive relationship and her friends are trying to console her and let her know she’s safe now, presumably because her husband is in jail, or dead lol.

Your podcast is awesome btw. I’ve listened to every episode at least once. I’m also a STT subscriber, and I’m considering joining STT pro next year as it will be my second year in the Sykes Challenge.

I’ve been following and studying for about 4 months now. Initially I burned up a small 500.00 account, that was about 3.5 months ago. Since then I’ve been taking in all the free lessons I can, I’ve spoken with Sykes’ training rep, and Bohen’s training rep to get into the trading pro systema, but I need to build an account before I can afford to take the courses. Otherwise for now I am learning, and paper trading, applying the techniques Tim’s talk about over and over. Eventually I plan on taking the course. I’m 2 weeks with an accountable goal of at least 5% per day, so far I’ve been able to hit my target everyday for the last 10 days.

Question: Should I spend more time practicing the long game, or can a person have a successful career predominantly on the short side?

For example if a stock finishes strong for the day, does it usually drop in the morning due to profit taking or can it continue to go up. It seems these stocks are usually good for one day.

I’ve kept a listening record on what day and how many times I’ve listened to each episode (e.g. Roland Wolf, Gritani, Sykes, 3-4 times).

To win Stephen’s special prize, for those episodes with video, I remember seeing Stephen wearing a tank top and a flat bill hat.

I make a plan for a stock, it does exactly what I thought but Im on the sidelines watching it go without me…meanwhile I trade other shit that is really just guesses, like buying a reclaim of vwap et. Sometimes they work but other times they dont and even when they do, I dont really have a plan because it was an impulse. Looking for any helpon pulling the trigger? I feel I am gaining confidence/trust in myself but am I scared of success or what!?!
Also, is there any successful Canadian traders from Tims challenge you could interview? There are some difference with brokers and rules etc that could be helpful.

I like how honest Jim Rogers is about what he is and isn’t good at and what he wanted from life and did it.
Most people are afraid of failure and won’t go outside their comfort zone even if it’s something they really want. They’ll regret it later “shoulda, woulda, coulda”. Some people are afraid of success, more will be expected of them. Some are afraid of both so they are catatonic.
He’s right about agriculture, there are fewer families staying in the business and on top of that they they are building houses on prime farmland. Where’s our food going to come from when it’s all gone?
There will be a shortage of A/C and heating repairman, along with mechanics, house cleaners, plumbers. Not everyone is college material. They don’t want to and they prefer to use their hands and head to do something that’s useful to a lot of people.
Thank you

You touch on a lot of the same issues I deal with daily. I can feel your pain and disappointment at letting your emotions get the best of you. I truly appreciate you doing this episode, it hit on many of the points that I have dealt with, not only in trading but in life in general. I wish I could be this honest and introspective of myself. I also wish I had a better gasp of the english language to explain how much this episode meant to me, and many others. This episode will be saved and used as required listening until I become the person and trader I know I can be. Thank you for your openness, I would never have had that kind of courage, honesty or self awareness to do something like that.

i’m not ready to trade yet and i plan to subscribe to STT next week to start papertrading

I’ll be watching for earning winner breakout and potential dip buys, i was wondering watching $OCN if a stock downtrendig for several days/months, what kind of catalyts would be stong enough to get the company great again, have you seen it happen in the past ? if so, did you remember the name so i can take a look at it ? what is the best case scenario for a downtrending chart ?

i know i’m looking for adaptation, pennystock and high volatility but i’m still kinda curious

Lower priced stock you can use the 0.25 increments, and the over $100.00 you can use $5.00 – $10.00 increments.
Is that correct?

I also started last week to follow your watchlist.
I am starting learning about trading (found sykes on youtube in february with 0 previous knowledge about daytrading). my goals is to start trading when ready (probably another 6 months). I am still deciding which scanner to use(maybe stockToTrade, but for now i downloaded thinkorswim because is free and good to practice) and what trading platform( iam based in nyc now but the goal in 1or 2 years is to go back to italy). My question is about kblb. i saw on proit.ly that sykes profit on it today and it was on your watchlist. but it was not on my scanners because the float is over 600millions and i thought that float should be ideally 20M for a max of 100M. isnt that a requirement as well as a price range between 0.5$ to 15$ ish?
thanks for your time

I think the contestants learned a lot. I do think it’d be better to keep it to newbie traders. And, I think the scoring of different aspects besides just profits is a good thing (though I can see it would be rather time consuming). Like: points for getting at least 10% gain or more.– looking for the better set ups.

I have watched three of Tim’s live webnair’s now. I really like the way Tim teaches and explains trades. I am in Tim Skyes challenge. A opportunity to do a challenge like this would a great way to help me learn. I have made few trades and my record is not good.

With work I cannot pay attention during trading hours except for Friday. So I am taking courses on technical analysis, chart reading and I am even taking a financial analyst course from Chris Haroun. I want to learn to read charts and indicators so I can hold over night and set my stops for the next day. Another month till I can switch shifts at work.

Watching the contestants grow, and learn helped me a lot as a trader. As ya’ll say your podcast is for the newer trader, and getting to see some newer traders learn the patterns and become profitable was really inspiring and just makes me want to study even harder. I would love to be apart of the next paper trading challenge! I learned about penny stocks in November 2018, and since then I have been watching all of Tim Sykes videos on YouTube and I have listened to all your podcast! I really want to be mentored by Tim and Stephen. They taught their students a lot, and I know being apart of this challenge would teach me so much. Thank you for all the free content ya’ll put out, and I can’t wait till the next podcast comes out!

It really helps people to focus on learning, trading and being successful. You can then have a STT Paper Trading Hall of Fame where rah winner is enshrined. We can learn about them, and you can periodically follow up to see how they are currently doing in their trading.
Of course I would love the opportunity to participate, who wouldn’t?

I am sooooo ready to start trading with real $$$!!! However, I have a biz to sell before I can do that (was my plan all along)… Well, the biz is now for sale, and I am still immersed in the markets every single day, and still paper trading in real time daily, and as soon as I can, I will be opening a real $$$ account, and start my retirement funding! (I am 60)… Please consider me for your next competition, as I am confident I can win!… and Learn!… and I would Love to try out SST during this time, so I can be ready for that as well, once the real $$$ start trading.

I’ve been studying daily for about a year now. I’m in the Tim Sykes mentor program. I’ve not yet made a trade yet but I feel like I’m ready and I know I can benefit from this competition.

You two have really inspired me to keep going each week. Every time I feel like quitting, I start to listen to your banter and I get re-inspired. Especially when Tim coaches Steven up from a tough loss, and I think of the things that I did wrong. Think about the ways I can do better, and it really helps me look at my errors and try to write a better plan for the next trade.

Very lucky!!!

Just to say, If you want to figure ‘What is 7% of $3.10 the calculation is .07 x 3.10–that will give you the amount of the 7%, then you add that to the 3.10 to see your target (any percent in the double digits would not have the .07..it would just be .10 or .22) If you want to know, What percent is $0.21 of $3.10 you’d do the opposite, .21/3.10 = 7

Are these just some people over complicating their trading, or are these legit indicators that many traders use?

I would love to hear more about sketchy stocks. I see a lot of stocks with price warnings about delisting. These companies tend to try and pump the stock but I see varying results. CBAT is a current example

Greetings & Happy Holidays from your neighbors up north in Canada! Young trader still in training (not actually trading just yet); I really liked this video!

I learned a lot of things I didn’t know regarding the PDT rule, buying power and the difference between cash and margin accounts. I’m glad to have been listening to this podcast since it first started! Learning something new everyday; 1% better, stronger, faster as Tim likes to say!

Also picked up an interesting tip about the RED – GREEN move… taking lots of notes to say the least…

How about those weed stocks eh??? 😉 (You’re welcome…) hahaha..

Cheers!

P.S.: ROOTING FOR TEAM BOHEN, SORRY JEEVEN BUT TEAM BOHEN IS GONNA KICK YOUR BUTT ALL THE WAY BACK TO ENGLAND! 😀
